It has been just over 10 years that I have worked for one of the big box retailers. I have run the gamete, stepped up and stepped down. I have at times given my all and other times pulled back. At this time in the game I am going to walk away. I am tired and disillusioned.
Through my 10 years I have had awesome managers and lets just say not so awesome managers. Some have moved on others stayed until they were relocated, fired or their position was eliminated...
I have seen so much in my 10 yrs that I am honestly "Done".
I think the beginning of the end was when they watered down our bonus... saying Walmart is about promoting so the people who choose to become a form of manager deserve more than the one that supports them. This gave Walmart the ability to pocket 1/3 of more than 50% of it's work forces bonuses. With in a few months they will be eliminating many of the management roles. As they did the Co-Managers positions. We are told to embrace change as they cut hours, eliminate full time potions and bring in AI to replace the workers, They say this will free up the workers up to help the customers... I do not see this logic.. I see more jobs being cut just as when they put in self check machines. with every new piece of AI we lose one to two human workers that are not replaced. This is so scary how long until Walmart is full AI, ponder that idea...
Well I for one is good at reading between the lines and I am moving away from this and hopefully in a better direction.
